3…2…1…Liftoff!

You may have seen recent headlines, especially if you live in Central Florida, highlighting the Blue Origin space flight of Winter Park locals Sharon and Marc Hagle. As the founder of Space Kids Global, an organization that focuses on youth STEAM+ Environment programming, Sharon shares our conviction about the importance of providing education and opportunities to young people, and our Kailash Kids were lucky enough to have a special virtual call with her last month!

During the hour long presentation, Sharon shared her firsthand experience and encouraged the children to explore their curiosities and to continue to dream big. Through videos and her own recollections she illustrated the process that led up to her own historic space flight, and then invited our Kailash Kids to ask questions and be a part of the Postcards to Space initiative.

All of the children and staff gathered in the study pavilion listening to the main presentation from Sharon and Space Kids Global.

Judging by the artwork and notes the children created in the days after the call, we think it’s safe to say we have some aspiring astronauts on our hands! These postcards will ride along on a future Blue Origin flight to space before returning to Kailash Home as a permanent and very special souvenir that we know will continue to inspire this and future generations of Kailash Kids.

We are so grateful to partner organizations like Space Kids Global that help us bring special programming to campus. Your support also helps make these kinds of enriching and inspiring opportunities possible for our children, so thank you!
