Alumni Feature: Tenzin Moenkyi
Tenzin, Class of 2014, is a shining example of what a difference the opportunities of Kailash Home (and our individual sponsorship model) can make in the life of a young person. Tenzin came to Kailash in 2000 as a Tibetan refugee; following graduation from Kailash and with the help of her Sponsors Chris John and Tina Schroeter (pictured with Tenzin below), she was able to move to the United States and graduate from Colorado Mountain College with her Associate Science Degree. Tenzin then went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from lowa Wesleyan University and currently works as an Adult and Pediatric Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) specialist for the Cardiovascular and Surgery team at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We continue to be so proud of Tenzin’s exceptional accomplishments, and are so grateful for the close and loving support of her sponsor family. Tenzin’s kind of journey is one we hope to make possible for all of our Kailash Kids!
Welcome Home Kailash Kids!
We’re thrilled to introduce you to our newest class of Kailash Kids! Sonam Choedon Gurung (10), Fudeme Bhote (7), and Diki Khando Lama (6) recently arrived at Kailash Home and are settling into their new routine and schools. It is a bittersweet season for us every year as we celebrate our graduating seniors and also welcome some fresh new faces to campus. It will be exciting to watch these students grow and thrive over the coming years, and before too long, we’ll be celebrating their graduations too.
Celebrating Mother Earth Every Day!
As we approach Earth Day this year, let’s take a minute to reflect on some of the ways life at Kailash Home serves not only the residents of campus but also the sustainability of Mother Earth!
Happy Healthy Smiles
One of our favorite things is witnessing the beautiful, happy smiles of our children. We know that all children need support in a multitude of areas and that includes when it comes to overall health and wellness. All of our #KailashKids receive regular dental exams to ensure that they are maintaining good dental hygiene and to check for any issues.
Alumni Feature: Mangal Tamang
Mangal, Kailash Class of 2018, is one of four brothers and came to Kailash at a young age. He has since gone on to pursue a university degree and has aspirations to one day complete a graduate degree as well. He has stayed connected to Kailash since graduation through the Kailash Alumni group, and in his free time he enjoys creating artwork, mobile gaming, hiking, trekking, watching movies, and playing various sports like football, basketball, running, and mountain biking.
Kailash Class of 2024
Just like that, it’s time to celebrate and say goodbye to our Class of 2024.
More Than Just Our Founder
There’s a good chance you are reading this message because of Micheline Kramer, our co-Founder and President. For so many of our worldwide family, Micheline was the first one to introduce us to Nepal and Kailash and the children we strive to help daily.
Generations of Kailash Kids
Family is the beating heart of Kailash Home, and the foundation that allows our children to flourish and succeed not only at every stage of their time with us, but also as they go out into their young adult lives. Seeing the intersection of these different factions of our wider Kailash family is an incredibly gratifying marker of success, and recently, we’ve been thrilled to witness a whole new era of Kailash Alumni involvement!
