New & Improved
It was a busy summer, and things have been bustling for our Kailash Kids and staff in Nepal! Over recent months, we’ve seen the completion of several longtime projects on campus including new property fencing, an updated playground area, refreshed roofing on our girls dormitory building, improved drainage infrastructure, and more.
Friends from Near & Far
Have you ever had an experience, a moment in your life, when it seemed like the world shifted around you and suddenly your perspective was entirely changed? Moments like these are magical and happen rarely, unless that is, you happen to be the proverbial fly on the wall at Kailash Home. At Kailash, these moments happen regularly.
Through our Friends of Kailash Home program, people of all ages, but primarily university students, from around the world have the chance to stay at Kailash for up to a month. While on campus these visitors have a unique opportunity to meet and mentor our children through shared meals, tutoring, and other fun activities and outings. Rather than tell you how impactful these experiences are for both our Friends and our Kailash Kids, though, we invite you to read what a few of our most recent visitors had to say:
New Faces at Kailash Home
It’s always an exciting time of year when we welcome a new class of children to Kailash. They don’t know it yet, but their lives have just shifted forever.
GUEST POST: A Week at Kailash Home
To know, to really understand life at Kailash Home is to live in her sounds. Bells ringing suddenly in the pre-dawn light. The steady chanting of morning prayers. A hundred chairs scraping the dining hall floor. The clanging of dishes being washed and stacked back on their shelves. The routine thud of basketballs on concrete. Birdsong from just outside the open windows. And always, always the laughter and shouts and chatter of the children. Life at Kailash is an unending symphony of happy, vibrant noise.
3…2…1…Liftoff!
Our Kailash Kids recently had the opportunity for a special virtual call with astronaut and Space Kids Global founder Sharon Hagle.
Welcome Home for Our Newest Class of Kailash Kids
It is officially one of my favorite times of the year. This is the season when we welcome a brand new set of children to Kailash Home and our HYF family! While in Nepal last month, I had the opportunity to personally greet our four new students and observed with great joy just how quickly they assimilated to life with the other children.
