After almost a full year of online learning, we are happy to report that every single one of our #KailashKids has successfully passed their final exams and moved on to the next grade, and now that the government has again lifted lockdown, they are all back to in-person classes. Your support over the past year was essential to the success of each and every child.
Now we ask you to help our children once again as we launch our 2021 ANNUAL APPEAL. We are so very excited to share that our dear friends Alan and Patricia Bickell have generously offered to repeat their incredible challenge from last year!
Now thru November 30th, the Bickells will match every single dollar that you donate, all the way up to $20,000. That’s twice the impact on our Kailash Kids!
With your generous donations, Kailash Home will continue to be a place of hope and inspiration for our children, allowing them to succeed at Kailash and beyond, as young alum, Sonam Choekyi, now a successful journalist and artist, has done.
Sonam first came to Kailash at the age of 9 after losing her father. With the unconditional support of Himalayan Youth Foundation, she went on to attend the Kathmandu University School of Arts and found work as a freelance journalist. Since 2019, her stories and photographs - often featuring the Dolpo region where she was born - have regularly appeared in the Nepali Times and other major Kathmandu publications. Her short film The Snow Leopard Calling won Best Documentary in the Panorama category in the 2020 Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) and has been featured at film festivals around the world.
At just 27 years old, Sonam is a prime example of how your support can make a long lasting impact and transform a life. And each year, we support another hundred children who, like Sonam did at one time, rely on this community of sponsors and friends of Kailash.
